AP style dictates that only the full, official name of an organization or event should be capitalized: “the Albany City School District,” but not “the Albany school district” or “the school district.”

In association work, however, the organizations we work with sometimes have specific preferences that violate these guidelines. We should honor these preferences, within reason – let’s not go overboard with Random Capitalization, the sort of which can be found in the “Winnie-the-Pooh” books. (“I have been Foolish and Deluded,” said he, “And I am a Bear of No Brain at All.”)

We appreciate all you do for our Association and look forward to seeing you at next year’s Conference.
